ASISSTANTSHIP OPPORTUNITIES:
The faculty of the department award graduate assistantships in the following areas:

  • Sport/Fitness Program (teaching sport/fitness related classes) 
  • Anatomy/physiology (teaching laboratories)
  • Laboratory Research (dependent on faculty funding).

When you are accepted into the graduate program, your acceptance letter will inform you of which faculty member has been assigned as your academic advisor.  If you are interested in a graduate assistantship, you must contact your advisor.  Advisors are asked for a priority listing of those students whom he/she feels are eligible to receive an assistantship.  Recipients will be notified no later than April 15th

QUALIFICATIONS:
Selection for assistantship assignments is based upon teaching or research ability, experience and special expertise.  

REQUIREMENTS:
To be considered for an assistantship, students must meet the requirements and be admitted as a graduate degree seeking student in the department. (Students from non-English speaking countries must pass the Test of Spoken English to be eligible for a teaching assistantship.) To maintain the assistantship a 3.0 or better grade point average must be maintained each semester. Students also must meet minimum course registration requirements for each semester they are appointed. (Students on .25 - .74 time appointments must be enrolled in 9 credit hours of course work during the fall and spring terms).

FEE WAIVER:
In-state and out-of-state tuition waivers may be granted to cover part of the required credits of course work. All graduate students admitted as non-Florida or Resident Alien U.S. Citizens who receive tuition waivers must apply to the Registrar’s Office for Florida Resident Classification within 12 months of residing in the state.
