CLINICAL EXERCISE PHYSIOLOGY LABORATORY

Dr. Randy Braith

< The Clinical Research Laboratory is the only lab within the Center For Exercise Science entirely dedicated to research involving human clinical populations. The primary research focus of the Clinical Research Laboratory is end-stage organ failure and organ transplantation. Researchers in this laboratory study mechanisms of heart failure, liver failure, and lung failure in patients before transplantation and track homeostatic mechanisms in patients after organ transplantation. Parallel lines of research are developed for both adult and pediatric patient populations. Both inpatient research protocols (no exercise intervention) and outpatient research protocols (exercise intervention) are conducted by Clinical Research Laboratory investigators. All research is performed in cooperation with appropriate clinical departments from Shands Hospital at the University of Florida.
