What is a work order?

A work order requests the assistance of maintenance, technology support, physical plant or custodial personnel.

  • Maintenance services
    Includes painting, furniture moving and removal, and minor construction projects for offices and classrooms.
  • Technology support
    Includes assistance with computer, internet and telephone services.
  • Physical plant services(*)
    Include assistance with building repairs to facilities, heating and air conditioning temperature levels, all telephone equipment and line requests, operation of the university telephone service, lighting, plumbing, pumping and environmental systems.
  • Custodial assistance(*)
    Includes spill clean up, waste management, restroom cleaning, toiletry supply, and floor maintenance.

*Please be advised, the Physical Plant Division (PPD) is a separate entity of the University of Florida. Allow at least two to three weeks for work orders requesting assistance from PPD to be completed. 

PPD handles emergencies posing a threat to personal health or safety, or major damage to buildings, equipment, or other property immediately. Urgent situations posing a threat of personal injury, equipment damage, loss of research, or a serious disruption of University operations are handled, when possible, the day the work order request is received.

Who can place a work order?

Only full-time faculty and staff members may place work orders requesting assistance from support personnel. Graduate teaching assistants may place work orders if assistance is necessary to provide an adequate and safe teaching environment for any area administrated by the College of Health and Human Performance.

When do I need to receive permission from my department chair for a work order request?

Whenever resources (including services provided by PPD) are required to be purchased to complete a work order, approval by the department chair is required prior to placing the work order.

How do I place a work order?

To place a work order request, please go to http://workorder.hhp.ufl.edu/. If you have not used the system in the past, you will need to create an account at the same address.

How long does a work order take to be completed?

Depending on the service requested, a work order may be completed within days of submitting the request. More complex and laborious tasks generally take longer to be completed by support personnel. Please allow one to two weeks for a work order request to be completed
