The recent renovation of the Florida Gym provided outstanding classroom and laboratory space. New funding is still needed to update equipment, support research and ensure the high level of teaching, research and service for which these areas were designed. Endowments of $200,000 or more each for the following centers and laboratories afford the donor an important naming opportunity.
Center For Exercise Science - focuses on the effects of exercise in improving health, fighting disease and enhancing athletic performance. The Center's labs specialize in biomechanics, endocrinology, exercise biochemistry, exercise therapy, motor behavior, and muscle physiology.
Florida Center For Health Promotion - provides a focal point for research and development in key areas such as HIV/AIDS education, smoking prevention, alcohol and drug education, nutrition, stress management and general health.
Health Science Education Instructional Technology Laboratory - elevates the use of technology in school health and public health education.
Center For Tourism Research and Development - facilitates interdisciplinary studies of leisure travel and tourism with a primary focus on Florida and Latin America.
Sport Medicine Athletic Training Center - serves as a teaching facility, provides rehabilitation for UF students injured in recreational sports and conducts research on preventing and caring for injuries.
